Sandy Bay beach, Clontarf, Lower North Shore, Sydney

Paw Rating: 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 Poochtastic!

Sandy Bay beach is our favorite pooch friendly beach in the Lower North Shore. Free parking, decent sized beach and water that humans can swim in too make this our regular weekend spot.

It's a shallow beach, so great for pups who are not confident in deep water. You can also go further out in the water for good swimmers. Being sheltered, it's also good for those not keen on waves (as Spatz was). As long as it hasn't just rained (as for any beach in Sydney) the water is clean and plenty of humans swim with their pups - we do all the time!

At high tide the amount of sand is a bit small, but any time other than peak high tide will give you room to run swim and play. When the tide is out, there's heaps of beach for ball chasing and sand rolling.

Lots of dog walkers come here during the week, and there are plenty of pooches of all sizes on a nice weekend day.

Being a dead end road, traffic is light.

Drive all the way to the end of Sandy Bay Road, past Clontarf Reserve. There are a few official parking spots, but people also park up on the road edge.
